UPPSC Interview Mock
Personality Test – Grand Practice
By Shaktimatha Learning
🔹 Interview Board Introduction
This mock interview is designed to test not just knowledge, but your clarity of thought, ethical orientation, administrative attitude, and emotional balance. Answers should be calm, honest, and well-reasoned.
SECTION – A : Personal & Background Questions
Q1. Please introduce yourself.
Model Answer:
I am Ramakrishna, a disciplined learner with a strong interest in public service. My academic background and consistent self-study have shaped my analytical thinking. I aspire to join civil services to work at the grassroots level and contribute to transparent, people-centric governance.
Q2. Why do you want to join the civil services?
Model Answer:
Civil services offer a unique platform to convert constitutional values into real action. It allows me to address social inequalities, improve service delivery, and act as a bridge between government policies and citizens. For me, it is not a position of power, but a position of responsibility.
SECTION – B : General Studies Based Questions
Q3. Which freedom movement influenced you the most and why?
Model Answer:
The Quit India Movement influenced me the most because it reflected the collective will of the people. It showed that when citizens unite with moral clarity, even the strongest authority loses legitimacy. This lesson is deeply relevant for democratic governance today.
Q4. Subhas Chandra Bose or Mahatma Gandhi – whose approach was more effective?
Model Answer:
Both approaches were effective in their own ways. Gandhi mobilized the masses and gave the movement moral legitimacy, while Subhas Chandra Bose weakened British authority psychologically and militarily. India’s freedom was achieved due to the complementarity of both approaches, not competition.
SECTION – C : Opinion & Analytical Questions
Q5. Is non-violence relevant in today’s world?
Model Answer:
Yes, non-violence remains relevant because it encourages dialogue, reduces long-term conflict, and strengthens democratic institutions. While force may offer quick results, non-violence creates sustainable solutions by addressing root causes.
Q6. What is your view on reservation?
Model Answer:
Reservation is a tool for social justice, not a privilege. It is necessary to ensure representation of historically marginalized communities. However, it should be continuously reviewed to ensure it reaches the truly deserving and promotes equality of opportunity.
SECTION – D : Ethical & Situational Questions
Q7. If your senior asks you to ignore a rule for convenience, what will you do?
Model Answer:
I would respectfully explain the legal and ethical implications of ignoring the rule. If the instruction still continues, I would seek written clarification or approach the appropriate authority. Maintaining integrity is essential for public trust.
Q8. How will you handle pressure and failure?
Model Answer:
Pressure is part of public service. I believe in calm analysis, learning from mistakes, and maintaining emotional balance. Failures are feedback mechanisms, not final judgments.
SECTION – E : State-Specific (UP) Orientation
Q9. What are the key challenges of Uttar Pradesh?
Model Answer:
Uttar Pradesh faces challenges such as population pressure, employment generation, education quality, and healthcare access. However, it also has immense human capital and cultural strength. Focused governance and effective implementation can convert challenges into opportunities.
Q10. If selected, what will be your first priority as an officer?
Model Answer:
My first priority would be to understand ground realities by listening to people. Effective administration begins with empathy, data-driven decision-making, and transparent processes.
“The interview does not test perfection, it tests preparedness and character.”
