GEOGRAPHY–3
Answer Writing + Map Practice (Examiner Simulation)

By Shaktimatha 369 Learning

1. How to Use Geography–3 (VERY IMPORTANT)

This module is meant for active practice, not reading. Each question should be attempted in:

  • 10 minutes (150 words)
  • With one rough map / diagram

After writing, compare with the Examiner Checklist given below.

2. High-Probability Answer Writing Questions (Practice Set)

Q1.

“Explain the role of jet streams in the onset and withdrawal of the Indian monsoon.”

Q2.

“Urban flooding in India is a result of both climatic and anthropogenic factors.”

Q3.

“Discuss the geographical factors responsible for uneven population distribution in India.”

Q4.

“Why are Himalayan regions highly vulnerable to landslides?”

Q5.

“Assess the impact of climate change on Indian agriculture.”

3. Mandatory Map Practice (Do Along with Answers)

Draw rough maps for:

  • India – Monsoon winds & jet streams
  • India – Flood-prone regions
  • India – Population density belts
  • Himalayas – Landslide zones
  • India – Major agro-climatic regions

Maps should be completed in 30–40 seconds. Accuracy > beauty.

4. Examiner Checklist (Self-Evaluation Tool)

After writing each answer, ask:

  • Did I start with a clear concept?
  • Did I include spatial/geographical reasoning?
  • Did I draw a map or diagram?
  • Did I link to India/current context?
  • Is my conclusion forward-looking?

If 4 out of 5 are YES → answer is above average.

5. Model Structure (Copy This in Exam)

  1. Intro: 1–2 conceptual lines
  2. Map: Small rough outline
  3. Body: 3–4 analytical points (cause–process–impact)
  4. Example: Indian / recent
  5. Conclusion: Sustainable / integrated approach

6. One-Line Value Addition (Use Selectively)

  • “Monsoon variability directly impacts food security.”
  • “Urban geography reflects governance capacity.”
  • “Mountain ecosystems are climate change multipliers.”

7. Common Mistakes in Geography Answers

  • Writing like NCERT without analysis
  • No map even when clearly relevant
  • Long paragraphs, no sub-structure
  • Ending without conclusion

Avoiding these mistakes alone can add 10–15 marks in GS-I.

8. 7-Day Geography Practice Plan

  • Day 1–2: Monsoon + Climate questions
  • Day 3: Population & Migration
  • Day 4: Urbanisation & Disasters
  • Day 5: Agriculture & Resources
  • Day 6: World geography (maps)
  • Day 7: Full GS-I Geography mock (3 questions)

End of GEOGRAPHY–3 (Answer Writing Mastery Module)
